127-unit affordable housing project breaks ground in East Tulsa after years of delays

NORTH TULSA, Okla. — A long-awaited affordable housing development is officially moving forward in north Tulsa after five years of planning, funding challenges, and pandemic-related delays.

The project, led by Oklahoma-based nonprofit We Are Society, will bring 127 affordable housing units to the corner of Sheridan Road and Pine Street, on the site where a Safeway grocery store once stood.
