Tulsa shelters over capacity as winter storm forces expansion

TULSA, Okla. — Homeless shelters across Green Country were stretched beyond capacity over the weekend as a winter storm brought freezing temperatures and snow to the area.

The Tulsa Day Center, one of the city’s largest shelters, expanded its overnight capacity to meet the increased need. On a typical night, the shelter serves around 85 people, but Saturday night that number grew to more than 130.
