Colt Gunned Down on Small-Town Street Rattles Tullahassee

A quiet afternoon in Tullahassee turned grim when Wagoner County deputies discovered a young colt shot to death just off a residential roadway, and now investigators are asking neighbors to help them figure out who pulled the trigger. Deputies were called around 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 3 to the 500 block of Lincoln Street, where the colt was found lying near the road beside its owner’s property. Investigators believe the animal had been killed hours earlier and are urging residents to review doorbell and security cameras for anything unusual from that morning, according to KTUL.

When deputies arrived, the colt was already in rigor mortis. A blood trail stretched south along Kinney Street, then east onto Arkansas Street, stopping at a fence line between homes in the 1000 block of Arkansas Street and the 600 block of Lincoln Street. Authorities said the animal appeared to have been shot in the side, and they did not immediately find an exit wound, KTUL reported.

Witnesses told deputies they heard several gunshots between about 10 a.m. and noon that day. Investigators canvassed the neighborhood, collected statements, and photographed evidence at the scene. Sheriff Chris Elliott called the case “disturbing and deeply upsetting” and said those responsible “will be held accountable,” as reported by KTUL.
