Tulsa weighs ordinance to let police impound vehicles in reckless driving cases

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Tulsa City Councilor Laura Bellis is proposing a new policy aimed at cracking down on reckless driving by allowing police to impound vehicles for three days in extreme cases.

Bellis says the ordinance is designed to create stronger consequences for drivers who put others at risk.

“Right now, somebody could be driving recklessly going 100 miles per hour, get stopped, cited, maybe even arrested — and the second they are out they could go get their car back right away,” Bellis said. “I am trying to change that and ensure there is a more serious consequence.”…
