Deputies stop jury duty phone scam, preventing 80-year-old from losing $7,000

WAGONER, OKLA. (KTUL) — Wagoner County deputies stopped an 80-year-old man from losing $7,000 after scammers convinced him he had missed jury duty and faced arrest unless he paid through a Bitcoin ATM.

The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office said that on 03-03-2026 at about 1700 hours, a woman called Wagoner County 911 to report her husband missing.

She told deputies that around 1430 hours, her husband received a phone call from someone claiming to be an investigator with the sheriff’s office…
