Oklahoma State Confirms Former Student Was Among Six Service Members Killed in Iraq KC-135 Crash

TULSA, Okla. – Oklahoma State University said former student Maj. John “Alex’’ Klinner was among six U.S. service members killed when a KC-135 refueling aircraft went down in Iraq on March 12. Klinner graduated from the university’s Spears School of Business in 2025.

OSU shared the news in a Facebook post, writing: “The Cowboy family is grateful for his service to our country, and we are keeping his wife, Libby, and young children in our thoughts and prayers.”

Sen. James Lankford (R-Oklahoma) also shared his condolences to the family of Maj. Klinner on Tuesday.

“Cindy and I are praying for the friends and families of all crewmembers lost serving on the KC-135, including US Air Force Maj. John “Alex” Klinner. All six trained at Altus Air Force Base. Maj. Klinner was a recent graduate of Oklahoma State’s Spears College of Business. Thank you to all the members for the service to our country–we are forever grateful.”
