Armed standoff in Collinsville ends with suspect found dead, police say

COLLINSVILLE, Okla. – Police say an armed disturbance in Collinsville Thursday night ended with the suspect found dead inside a home after an hours-long standoff involving multiple agencies.

Officers were called around 10 p.m. March 26 to a home near 2300 West Maple Street, where the suspect was reportedly outside threatening to kill family members, neighbors, and responding officers. When police arrived, the individual went back inside while others in the home escaped safely.

Multi-agency response and tactics used

Collinsville and Owasso police established a perimeter and told nearby residents to shelter in place. The Owasso Police SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, K9 units, and a drone team were deployed.

Negotiators attempted to contact the suspect for several hours using loudspeakers and cell phones, while drones monitored the scene. During that time, officers and neighbors reported hearing a gunshot from inside the home…
