Osage Nation preserves its story with sovereignty time capsule
TULSA, Okla. – The Osage Nation is honoring its past while looking toward the future as part of a month-long celebration of sovereignty. One of the key events this month invited Osage citizens to help preserve today’s history for generations to come.
Citizens Asked to Share Their Heritage
Osage citizens were encouraged to bring items representing their heritage to be sealed inside a time capsule. Photographs, letters, artwork, cultural items and important documents were selected to reflect the Nation’s values, resilience and everyday life.
The ceremony emphasized the importance of passing down stories that Osage people have carried for generations, now preserved in a tangible way for the future.
