Century-old altar stone discovered at Tulsa monastery

TULSA, Okla. — A rare piece of Oklahoma religious history has been uncovered at Saint Joseph’s Monastery in Tulsa, completely by accident.

Sisters at the monastery say they discovered an altar stone dating back to 1892 while cleaning out storage just a few weeks ago. The stone had been wrapped in linen and tucked away, its significance unknown until they took a closer look.
