Rogers State University to offer new secondary education degree program

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Rogers State University will begin offering a bachelor’s degree in secondary education starting in the fall 2026 semester, university officials announced.

The new degree program was approved during the April 2026 meeting of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Enrollment is now open for students interested in pursuing certification to teach middle and high school students in Oklahoma.

“The program will offer degree pathways in art, biology, business, computer science, English, mathematics, psychology and sociology, and social studies, giving students the opportunity to combine strong disciplinary preparation with professional educator training,” said RSU’s Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Dr. Brian Andrews. “At a time when schools across Oklahoma continue to face a significant shortage of teachers, this program represents an important investment in both students and the future of public education. By expanding access to high-quality teacher preparation, RSU is strengthening its mission to serve the workforce and educational needs of the communities that depend on it most.”…
