Tulsa officials highlight Mingo Creek’s role in stormwater management

TULSA, Okla – Officials with the City of Tulsa are reminding residents about the role Mingo Creek plays in the city’s flood control system as additional rain is expected across the area this week. City leaders said Mingo Creek flows from south to north through Tulsa and helps move stormwater away from neighborhoods, streets and smaller streams.

How Mingo Creek helps Tulsa manage flooding

According to city officials, Mingo Creek is one of Tulsa’s major drainage channels and is maintained through the city’s watershed program. The creek is designed to efficiently move stormwater away from smaller streams and neighborhoods to help reduce flood risks and protect infrastructure.
