Sunshine Division Opens New Free Portland Food Market To Expand Grocery Access

PORTLAND, OR – Sunshine Division will open a new Free Food Market at its headquarters near the Slabtown neighborhood on Tuesday, expanding access to free groceries for families and individuals across the Portland metro area.

The new market, located at 2121 NW Front Ave., is designed to allow visitors to select groceries based on household dietary needs, cultural preferences and personal tastes. Media tours and interviews are scheduled for Thursday, June 11, from 9 to 11 a.m.

The opening comes as demand for food assistance remains at historic levels, according to Sunshine Division. The organization also announced it is returning its Free Food Market model to its Southeast Portland location at 12436 SE Stark St. Beginning Monday, both sites will operate under the same model, giving visitors greater choice and flexibility when accessing food assistance…
