Oregon man accused of starting string of fires charged with domestic terrorism

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An Eastern Oregon man was arrested last week in connection with a string of suspected arsons in Wheeler County.

Ethan Noble Burlingame, 28, faces two counts of first-degree domestic terrorism, two counts of first-degree burglary, second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree theft, second-degree theft, two counts of interfering with a firefighter and five counts of reckless burning.

He is accused of starting multiple fires in and around the city of Fossil beginning June 1, according to the Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office.

Late on June 4, firefighters said they saw suspicious lights in the hills north of Fossil. It was later confirmed using drone imagery from the Yamhill and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Offices multiple power poles were on fire.
