PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A kitchen fire that happened in a high-rise apartment on Portland’s inner eastside was quickly extinguished on Saturday.
Despite the sprinkler system putting out the flames in short order for the apartment near Northeast 2nd Avenue and East Burnside Street, one person was given medical treatment by firefighters and ambulance workers for possible smoke inhalation.
Portland Fire and Rescue said crews responded just after 1:30 p.m. after smoke was seen coming out of the 14th floor, later determined to be the apartment where the kitchen fire happened.
