Portland city council approves amendments to plan for future of fuel storage hub along Willamette River

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Portland City Council approved a set of amendments on Thursday to a policy proposal for the future of fuel terminals and storage tanks along the Willamette River in northwest Portland.

The Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub is located near Forest Park in the Linnton neighborhood and contains and distributes 90% of Oregon’s liquid fuel. However, experts say the CEI Hub was built in an area where the ground could liquefy during an earthquake and is a danger to the surrounding communities and environment in the case of natural disasters, including floods and fires.
