Man involved in domestic violence incident barricades himself in apartment for 8 hours: Police

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – A man accused of domestic violence is in custody after police say he barricaded himself in his Southeast Portland apartment late Wednesday night.

Dylan Burstell, 30, was in his apartment at 17000 Southeast Stark Street when officers arrived to arrest him on domestic violence charges. He was also wanted for a parole violation for possessing a firearm as a felon, police say.

According to authorities, Burstell refused to surrender and blocked the officers’ entry with bathroom cabinetry that he had “hastily ripped from the wall,” which caused a pipe to burst and the room to flood.

With a search warrant, police entered Burstell’s apartment and found a loaded gun.

After nearly eight hours, Burstell was arrested by 7 a.m. and taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center. Details of the domestic violence itself have yet to be specified.
