PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — The centerpiece of the world’s smallest park went missing, and now it’s finally coming back.
Mill Ends Park in the center of Naito Parkway was home to a lone tree that stood stalwart against the encroaching concrete. However, two weeks ago, the tree disappeared.
Portlander and local tour guide Adam Smith told KOIN 6 News he was doing a tour when he noticed the tree had disappeared.

“I was doing a city tour on January 26 and was hyping up the park before I showed my guests and I got there and there was no bush it was just a desolate little circle of dirt,” said Smith.
Smith called Mark Ross, Portland Parks and Recreation’s Public Information Officer, and asked him about the missing plant. According to Smith, Ross said the tree must’ve been stolen again.
Ross confirmed the tree was gone but joked that there was no need to worry because they were replanting the entire park.
Within the near future, Ross said that they will be planting a dwarf Alberta spruce tree in the world’s smallest park.
