Darlene 3 Fire evacuations change, fire growth slows

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Growth slowed Friday for the Darlene 3 Fire as crews increased the containment.

As of Friday, the Darlene 3 Fire is still listed at 3,889 acres, which is not an increase from Thursday’s measurement. However, the fire’s containment went up from 30% to 42% according to Central Oregon Fire Info.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office announced updated evacuations Thursday afternoon for the area around the fire.

Currently, there are Level 3 ‘GO NOW’ evacuations in place for all areas to the east of the BNSF railroad tracks to Forest Service Toad 9736 and Finley Butte Road, and north of the Deschutes/Klamath Line north to just north of the Newberry Estates subdivision.

Level 2 ‘BE SET’ evacuations are in place for the areas immediately to the east of Highway 97, the industrial area on Russel Road from Reed Road South to the end of Russel Road, areas to the north of Highway 31 to the intersection with Highway 97 and areas north of Paulina-East Lake Road.
