A proposal to slap additional criminal penalties on people who tag public property in Portland is expected to come from Commissioner Rene Gonzalez this month. In a post on X, Gonzalez wrote that the “current lack of consequences” for graffiti taggers in Portland has emboldened them, and he noted there must be stronger tools for deterring vandalism.
