Indigenous Peoples Day events set for Clackamas CC

Clackamas Community College will hold a community event to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day on Sunday, Oct. 13.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the college’s Environmental Learning Center, located at 19600 Molalla Ave. in Oregon City. This free event is open to the public.

Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to honor and celebrate the rich histories, present-day contributions and cultures of Indigenous communities in Oregon and across the country.

The event will feature a variety of activities and entertainment, including:

Building community and connection within and outside of Indigenous communities.Learning about the Indigenous communities in our area through storytelling, music and cultural performances.Shopping for unique, locally-made Indigenous artisan products.Eating delicious food provided by Tachi Killer Tacos and Baba’s Fry Bread.

“We are excited to bring our community together to celebrate the vibrant Indigenous cultures that have shaped our region,” said Casey Layton, the college’s chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer. “This event creates the opportunity to engage in validation of Indigenous experiences and community healing.”
