West Linn community rallying to support teens critically injured in crash

After a Sept. 18 crash left two West Linn High School students critically injured, community members are offering support and comfort to them and their families.

Cameron Tosado and Jaci Platt, who started their senior year at WLHS a month ago, were traveling from West Linn to Wilsonville in the early morning of Sept. 18 when their car struck a power pole, entrapping them in the car and leaving them both with life-threatening injuries.

First responders were able to free them from the vehicle and transported them to Oregon Health & Sciences University, where they remain in the ICU.

In the days since the crash, the friends, family and community members have donated more than $45,000 to a GoFundMe to help the families cover the cost of the teen’s medical bills.

With the help of community members and local restaurants, a group of West Linn parents have also begun delivering meals to the families at the hospital.

On Sunday night, Sept. 22, friends, family and classmates of Tosado and Platt and members of the broader community attended a prayer vigil outside WLHS organized by friends of the teens’ families.
