Police make high-risk traffic stop on Burnside Bridge

Police arrested two men after one of them pointed a replica firearm at multiple people in downtown Portland late Saturday afternoon.

Anthony G. Ortiz, 20, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of menacing, interfering with public transportation, interfering with a peace officer, escape in the third degree, disorderly conduct in the second degree, and possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl). He was also booked on multiple warrants.

Jesse Frizzell, 28, was booked into MCDC on charges of attempting to elude police (by vehicle) and possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl).

According to the Portland Police Bureau, at 5:23 p.m. on Sept. 28, Central Precinct officers responded to a suspicious circumstances call at West Burnside Street and Southwest 6th Avenue. The caller reported that a man was pointing a handgun at multiple people.

Officers quickly responded to the area and were updated with information that the man was driving away in a black Acura TLX sedan. A sergeant spotted the suspect vehicle and coordinated a high-risk stop and vehicle box-in maneuver on the Burnside Bridge.
