Man accused of Cottage Grove woman’s murder arrested in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – A monthslong nationwide search for an “armed and dangerous” man accused of murdering a Cottage Grove woman ended Saturday after authorities arrested the suspect in Portland, Lane County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Anthony Wesley Tyrell, 31, was arrested on several charges, including his warrant for second-degree murder, along with additional charges for an unrelated incident, the sheriff’s office said. According to court documents, Tyrell also faces two counts of fourth-degree assault, first-degree criminal trespass, and a second-degree theft charge.

In July, Lane County Sheriff’s Office identified Tyrell as a suspect for the murder of 29-year-old Rozaleena Faith Rasmussen of Cottage Grove. Rasmussen was reported missing before her body was found — spurring a nationwide search for Tyrell, who authorities considered “armed and dangerous.”
