Man accused of assaulting staff, threatening guests with a knife at Lewis County Gospel Mission

A man accused of threatening to kill multiple people while he was wielding a knife at the Lewis County Gospel Mission on Thursday is now facing felony charges.

Roy Joseph Fisher, 51, of La Center, was charged Friday, Jan. 3, in Lewis County Superior Court with one count each of second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, felony harassment and resisting arrest.
Bail is set at $50,000.

“I know that Mr. Fisher is frustrated with the charging,” defense attorney Rachael Tiller said during Fisher’s preliminary hearing on Friday, Jan. 3.

Fisher was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at 8:25 a.m. on Jan. 2 after officers with the Chehalis Police Department responded to a report that “a male subject was wielding a knife” in the 70 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue, according to court documents and jail records.

Lewis County Gospel Mission employees reported that there was a “disturbance between Fisher and the others” that staff broke up before Fisher allegedly shoved an employee, prompting other guests at the mission to tackle Fisher in an attempt to push him out the door.
