One displaced after heat gun causes garage fire in Parkrose home

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — One person is displaced after a heat gun caused a garage fire in Portland’s Parkrose neighborhood late Saturday night, authorities said.

Just after 11 p.m., crews responded to 2616 Northeast 111th Avenue on reports of a structure fire.

Officials said first arriving crews saw fire coming from the garage and the home’s resident had escaped.

When crews thought they had knocked down the main body of the fire, they found more flames coming from the attic. However, they managed to put out all fires within the hour.

The resident, who was displaced due to the damage, told crews they were using a heat gun which knocked over and sparked the fire, officials said.
