PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — The suspect in a Thanksgiving Day crash that resulted in two deaths was booked into jail this week after being released from the hospital under police custody, authorities said.
Portland man Kim Hien Nguyen, 60, is accused of two counts of second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of intoxicants, among other charges, the Portland Police Bureau said.

Nguyen was released from the hospital on Monday and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center, officials said.
Andrea J. Doering, 46, died of her injuries the same night of the crash after occupying the backseat of a Honda HR-V on Nov. 28. The front passenger of that car, Patricia J. Esler, died of her injuries on Dec. 14 after initially being hospitalized.
Police said the driver of a 2003 Honda Accord — later identified as allegedly Nguyen — had been driving westbound on Lombard Street when he crossed the center line and hit the other car. He was injured in the crash and hospitalized under police custody.
