PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Five years after Quincy Gill was shot to death in Northeast Portland, the man who killed him was sentenced to prison.
Elijah L. Thomas pleaded no contest to killing the 39-year-old Gill near NE Garfield Avenue and NE Fremont Street on December 11, 2019. Thomas managed to elude law enforcement until he was arrested by US Marshals in late 2022.

Even before his arrest, Thomas had 4 felony convictions and 9 parole violations on his record. In 2016 he was taken in after being found in possession of a handgun which was prohibited due to his felon status. Throughout the 2000s he was convicted on other charges multiple times.
He was booked for 2nd-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. But over time, the charges changed and he was convicted of second-degree manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon.
Thomas was sentenced to 6 years, 3 months in prison plus 3 years of post-prison supervision…
