Vancouver Public Schools superintendent to leave district after the school year

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — The superintendent of one of Washington’s largest school districts is exiting to take on a role at a statewide education organization.

Vancouver Public Schools Superintendent Jeff Snell is leaving the district to serve as the Washington Association of School Administrators’ new executive director.

He will replace Joel Aune, who is set to retire after seven years with WASA. In his new role, Snell will lead the organization “focused on K–12 education policy issues, the leadership development of Washington’s public school administrators, and championing public education.”

His public education experience spans nearly 30 years, with previous roles as a math teacher, associate principal and principal at various VPS schools. He was selected for his current position as superintendent in July 2021, months after his predecessor Steve Webb announced his retirement…
