Authorities nab second suspect involved in fatal drive-by shooting that killed one, injured four

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Authorities have successfully apprehended a second suspect involved in last Friday’s fatal shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy and injured four others in Moses Lake. Early this morning, 18-year-old Mathew Valdez was arrested in Beaverton, Oregon, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals.

The violent incident Valdez was wanted for took place on Loop Drive and left two teens, aged 17, a 12-year-old, and 26-year-old Crystal Santoyo, injured. Santoyo, who was driving the vehicle that was attacked, is a resident of Moses Lake. All victims have been treated for gunshot wounds and released from the hospital.

Earlier in the investigation, detectives arrested a 14-year-old boy in the Tri-Cities area. However, 20-year-old Jose Beltran-Rodriguez, another suspect from Moses Lake, remains at large. He is wanted on charges of first-degree murder and five counts of first-degree assault, among other offenses…
