‘Don’t wait until the last minute’ – deadline for Real ID in Washington nears

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — If you have upcoming travel plans after early May involving flights, listen up. As of May 7, 2025, your normal ID or driver’s license will not be enough to get you on a plane. You’ll need a Real ID, a passport, or other TSA approved documentation.

According to the Washington Department of Licensing, 1,788,910 residents have already obtained a Real ID, which is called an Enhanced ID or license in our state. They say that equates to roughly 26% of the total number of driver licenses and ID cards statewide. If you are not among that group and have a flight nearing, they encourage you to make an appointment to get one.
