Portland’s RingSide Steakhouse Closed Temporarily After a Fire

ICYMI: The historic RingSide Steakhouse closed temporarily, as they suffered a fire last weekend. They will remain closed as they figure out what’s next and how to fix the damage.

What Happened?

Unlike the fire at Caffe Mingo/Bar Mingo, this one happened in the middle of the afternoon rather than the middle of the night. Firefighters arrived around 2:15pm and put out the fire pretty quickly.

The RingSide team is still in the early stages of assessing the damage to the restaurant, and are no doubt looking ahead to what might have to be done to rebuild the areas that were damaged. The place was affected by fire, smoke, and water. They sent over an official statement that I will share with you below.

The Statement From RingSide Steakhouse

On [Saturday], April 5, a fire broke out behind the stainless steel lining of the sauté and south grill stations in the kitchen. Thanks to the swift response from our team on-site and the Portland Fire Department, the fire was contained quickly and, most importantly, no one was injured.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire. In the process of ensuring everyone’s safety and extinguishing the fire, our roof sustained quite a bit of damage and significant portions of our dining room and kitchen experienced water and smoke damage. As a result, the restaurant will be closed while we work through repairs and restoration…
