Two Scappoose women arrested, accused of murdering man in their care

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Two women were arrested Wednesday, accused of first-degree murder and other charges after a man in their care was found dead last month.

According to Scappoose Police, the arrests of 63-year-old Kathrine Raina and 31-year-old Hillary Murphy followed a monthlong investigation into the death of Benjamin Murphy on March 9.

Officials said Benjamin had been under the care of Hillary and Raina. As the investigation progressed, police said they found the death was not from natural causes, but “the result of criminal actions.”
