PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said the city should have discussions about paying back a North Portland real estate agent who spent more than $100,000 on city-mandated sidewalk and street corner improvements as a condition of the building permit to renovate her office.
A KATU investigation found the Oregon Department of Transportation intended to upgrade the street corner in an upcoming state project along North Lombard, but the city made the business owner, Kami Price, do it anyway.
The investigation caught the attention of state representative Paul Evans (D-Monmouth) who sponsored legislation to prevent the situation from happening again. It passed the state house last week in a 46-5 vote, and is currently in a senate committee…
