Parent sentenced for exposing toddler to fentanyl says he should be allowed back with child ‘immediately’

A Multnomah County judge on Friday handed down years-long sentences to two parents who pleaded guilty to exposing their 3-year-old son to fentanyl, leaving him with severe brain damage.

Judge Christopher Marshall sentenced De’Lone Kelley, 32, to over six years in prison, and sentenced Samantha Smith, 29, to 4 1/2 years.

Both had pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree criminal mistreatment and third-degree assault on March 14, court records show, but failed to appear at their April sentencing hearing…
