Principal fired after racial slur controversy at Portland Catholic school

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – After weeks of controversy, a principal under fire for a heated confrontation with a family at a Northeast Portland Catholic school has officially been fired. The former principal is accused of calling the police on the parents of a student who said he was called a racial slur on the playground.

Questions have been looming around the Madeleine School regarding how it would address the heated exchange between parents Mike Phillips and Karis Stoudamire Phillips and principal Tresa Rast more than a month ago. Rast called the police on them when they confronted her over their son allegedly being called a racial slur on the playground. Then, their son was expelled days later.

FOX 12 spoke to the Phillips family last month, who said they wanted Rast’s dismissal and were hurt by what they experienced…
