Oregon man arrested on federal charges after allegedly transporting around 270 pounds of meth from Southern California

OREGON, USA — An Estacada man is facing federal charges after allegedly transporting 270 pounds of meth from Southern California to Oregon. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said this was the largest drug seizure in the department’s history.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Oregon, 29-year-old Anthony Barrera’s charges include possessing methamphetamine and cocaine with the intent to distribute. He made his first appearance in federal court and was ordered detained pending further charges.

Court documents said that Berrera had rented a vehicle and traveled to California to pick up the drugs, then sell them in Oregon. On May 24, officers found Barrera driving said rental car north on the Interstate 5 in Cottage Grove, then followed him to a rest stop near Roseburg…
