VANCOUVER, WASH. (KATU) — Residents of a Vancouver building are expressing frustration over a new homeless encampment that they say is causing chaos in their neighborhood. The encampment, located along the 800 block of Jefferson Street near the train tracks, reportedly emerged after the sound wall along Mill Plain was cleared.
Residents have reported witnessing nudity, animal and drug abuse, and attempted break-ins at their apartment building gate. Despite multiple calls to the city, they claim no action has been taken.
According to a spokesperson with the Vancouver Police Department, since March 2025, “36 calls for service for a variety of incidents including officer-initiated follow up, assisting animal control, a missing person response, as well as disturbances, thefts, and premise checks.”…
