Body recovered after man drowns at Horseshoe Lake

A man drowned at Horseshoe Lake Park in Woodland on Monday afternoon, June 30, after going underwater and not resurfacing, prompting a multi-agency response and search that ended with the recovery of his body.

Emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 3 p.m. when a 911 call reported a man had gone underwater while on a flotation device. His belongings were still on the shore, and family members told authorities they had not seen him resurface.

Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue responded with its Technical Rescue Team, along with crews from Fire District 6 and Vancouver Fire Department. The Woodland Police Department, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Department and AMR also responded to the scene…
