South Texas animal sanctuary takes in monkeys seized from raided Oregon safari park

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Five animals that were seized in a raid on an Oregon wildlife park have headed down south.

South Texas animal sanctuary Born Free USA has taken in three baboons named Zeus, Monet and Calliope, and two vervet monkeys named Blue and Bear — all of which were rescued from West Coast Game Park Safari earlier this year.

Oregon State Police seized a total of 310 animals from the Bandon facility in May, following a ”lengthy criminal investigation” centered on animal welfare, permitting, licensing and business practices.
