Gresham embraces ‘Spirit of Christmas’ during tree lighting

GRESHAM, Ore. (PORTLAND TRIBUNE) — Hot cocoa and cider; music and caroling; lights, stockings and wreaths; a parade; a giant tree; and, of course, an appearance by Jolly Old Saint Nick himself.

Downtown Gresham was transformed into the North Pole Saturday, Dec. 6, during the return of the annual Spirit of Christmas. The festivities, headlined by Santa and the lighting of the city’s towering, 60-foot-tall living ponderosa pine tree in the Arts Plaza, 401 N.E. 2nd Street, made for a festive affair for the hundreds of families that enjoyed a holiday outing.

The event was hosted for the second year by Spirit of Gresham, a holiday events arm of the Center for the Arts Foundation.
