Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash on Hwy 38 in Douglas Co., OR Claims Life of Elkton Man, Injures WA Trucker

DOUGLAS COUNTY, OR – A three-vehicle collision on Highway 38 has resulted in the death of an Elkton man and injuries to a commercial truck driver.

According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), troopers responded to the crash on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at approximately 5:20 P.M. The incident occurred on Highway 38 near milepost 22 in Douglas County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound Buick Enclave, operated by David Michael Lawson, 48, of Elkton, entered the westbound lane for unknown reasons. The vehicle struck a westbound Freightliner commercial motor vehicle and trailer driven by Kevin Morgan Leiser, 65, of Vancouver, Washington
