Retrial date set for North Plains man charged with killing brother

WASHINGTON COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – A retrial has been scheduled for a North Plains man accused of shooting and killing his brother in January 2024.

Investigators say Robert Horning shot his brother Carl Horning at Horning’s Hideout, a popular wedding venue owned and run by the family. Robert’s attorneys don’t deny that he pulled the trigger, but say he shot his brother out of self-defense due to what they call Carl’s confrontational nature.
