Multnomah County adopts ‘Vision Zero’ plan to eliminate traffic fatalities by 2035

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Multnomah County is working to improve pedestrian and driver safety in East Multnomah County, with a goal of eliminating all traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2035.

The ‘Vision Zero’ goal is part of the East Multnomah County Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP) that the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted on Thursday.

The plan is a long-term safety strategy developed by the county in partnership with Metro Regional Government along with the cities of Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, and Wood Village, and outlines improvements and actions the county and partners can take to improve safety on the roads and sidewalks…
