What policies say about unmarked police vehicles used by ICE in vehicle pursuits

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Residents in a small Central Austin neighborhood had an unexpected Monday morning when the sound of cars racing down the street followed by a crash caught the attention of the neighborhood.

A blue Toyota sedan traveling at high speeds had driven straight through the stop sign at the end of the road and crashed into the front yard of a house. According to multiple witnesses NewsNation local affiliate KXAN spoke with, the Toyota was being chased at high speeds by a white van and an SUV with blacked out windows.

Multiple witnesses told KXAN they didn’t remember hearing sirens, or even knew for sure what was happening until multiple officers wearing tactical gear with patches reading “POLICE ICE” jumped out and began pursuing the driver of the Toyota on foot.
