PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland’s projected shortage in funding to maintain city services has more than doubled.
There is now a gap of about $169 million in funds for continuing services at their current level in the fiscal year starting on July 1, the City Budget Office revealed in a report on Wednesday. Back in December, the office estimated a shortfall of nearly $67 million.

The updated report states the previous forecast was significantly lower because it took current allocation levels, rather than current service levels, into account.
Data show a majority of the estimated gap — nearly $104 million — comes from services with one-time funds that are now expiring, including nearly $30 million for existing public safety programs and around $54 million for existing homeless shelters…
