Driver narrowly avoids creek plunge after truck crash in Vancouver

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is being investigated for driving while intoxicated after officials say he crashed into a guardrail, nearly falling several feet into a creek in Vancouver late Friday morning.

Around 11:45 a.m., Clark County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash in the area of 14700 NE 72nd Avenue.

Arriving at the scene along with Vancouver Fire Department crews, deputies found a pickup truck driving northbound had veered into the oncoming lane, then hit a guardrail before “high-centering” on a stone barrier, according to CCSO.

Officials said the barrier kept the vehicle from falling several feet into the creek below.
