Debris slide closes section of I-5 near Woodland, causing major traffic delays

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A landslide closed a section of Interstate 5, creating miles of traffic backup near Woodland, Wash. early Saturday morning, transportation officials say.

According to the Washington Department of Transportation, the debris slide was first reported just after 3:30 a.m. on the highway near Dike Road at milepost 22.

All lanes of I-5 northbound were blocked for several hours due to debris from the landslide, officials said.

As of 2 p.m., officials say the left two traffic lanes have reopened. However, traffic in the area is backed up for nearly 5 miles.
