The Oregon Humane Society (OHS) has taken in 21 dogs and cats after Lake County deputies served a search warrant at a Christmas Valley property this week in what officials are calling a suspected animal neglect case. Responders also found several small animals on site and, in a grim discovery, multiple deceased pets.
What crews recovered and where the animals went
According to KPTV, OHS teams found 17 dogs and four cats living in filthy conditions without access to food or water. Five birds and two gerbils recovered from the property were sent to the Humane Society of North Lake County, while the dogs and cats were transported to OHS’s Portland campus for medical evaluations and behavior assessments before any adoption calls are made.
