Vancouver Public School educators hold walk-in to protest budget, job cuts

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Educators at Vancouver Public Schools are holding a “walk-in” at the start of the school day to protest budget cuts that put over 100 positions on the chopping block.

Vancouver Public Schools is facing a 24-million-dollar budget shortfall, and the district said the rising costs and stagnant state revenue are forcing it to make tough decisions.

The school board voted last month to slash nearly 200 jobs in order to save on costs.
