Portland woman sues city, after colliding with fleeing suspect during police pursuit

PORTLAND, Ore. — A Portland woman is suing the city after striking a fleeing suspect’s vehicle during a police chase, arguing officers were negligent in initiating the pursuit.

Selena Pinnell was driving on Southeast 82nd Avenue in May 2024 when a suspect in a stolen car — fleeing Portland police — darted from a side street and crossed the major thoroughfare. Before she knew it, her car collided with that vehicle that flipped at the intersection of Southeast 82nd and Taylor Court. Security footage captured the collision.
